Cat & Marshall

November 20, 2009

Well, one of the fringe benefits of being so busy that I barely had time to breathe for the last 6 months is that I now have a mountain of amazing, unseen blog material just waiting in the wings.

Today I’d like you to meet Cat and Marshall, an adorable couple who met out in Missouri at College and came back to Oregon (Cat’s original home) for their wedding out at Brittonridge B&B. The weatherman said that it was probably going to rain, but the day turned out perfectly with the lite overcast clouds acting as my own personal softbox.

Of all the weddings I shot this year, I think I’ve got to give Cat the award for most creative and detail oriented bride I worked with – whether it was embroidering everyone custom hankies, sewing bridesmaid purses from scratch, making her own garter, hand making her escort cards, personalized and color coordinated baby bibs and hats, she even made her own wedding logo out of an olive branch – and that’s just the condensed list.

The wedding party was an absolute blast to work with! There’s something about a bunch of Missourian groomsmen that makes everything extra funny. We took a quick drive from the B&B to an apple orchard for wedding party pictures which ended up being a perfect setting especially with the parasols.

The ceremony was gorgeous, complete with a guitarist and banjo player providing the soundtrack. One of the most touching moments of the day was when Cat’s dad (who was in a cast up to his knee and not even supposed to be standing) threw caution to the wind and walked her down the aisle in spite of doctors warnings.

Cat and Marshall’s photography package included their digital negatives and Cat did a great job of putting together a blog devoted entirely to her wedding day. There’s a ton more pictures there and some great commentary if you’re interested.

Great work on these! The shots of the bridal party linking arms is one of my fave!
